Detailed introduction

OVERVIEW

Comprehensive pole-mounted capacitor bank solutions can be tailored to meet customer application needs. This customized bank package offers overall system improvements such as improved power factor, system capacity release, loss reduction, voltage stability, improved power flow and cost savings.

Core features

  • Unfused fused units
  • Available with units mounted vertically, horizontally or flat, based on installation conditions
  • Robust lightweight welded galvanized steel optional
  • Frame-integrated lifting provisions
  • Externally fused banks available with expulsion or current limiting fuses connected to each unit
  • Compact relay protected fuseless banks utilizing series string configuration
  • Station-class bus support insulators

Modular construction

Open air capacitor banks utilize a range of frame structures and bus configurations that can be scaled and configured to meet application needs. These customizable configurations can apply a variety of series-parallel connections and allow for side-by-side or phase-over-phase bank orientations. Modular assemblies can optimize system footprint, reduce installation time and labor and allow for banks to be reconfigured, extended or relocated over time as system demands evolve.

Utilize orientations to meet specific installation needs

Open air capacitor banks are available with capacitor units in vertical, horizontal or flat orientations. Vertical orientation results in bushings at right angles with respect to mounting floor. This type of construction is typically utilized to limit the bank footprint within the substation area and provide additional safety benefits. Horizontal orientation results in bushings being parallel with the ground. This type of construction is typically utilized when overall height is a limitation or more than 3 blocks are being stacked on top of each other. When facing significant height limitations, flat mounting is available.
